The music on solarwhipped employs nylon string guitars, warbly vintage synthesizer sounds, hip hop and acoustic drum samples, percussion, space-d out guitars, and whisper-y vocals, to create transportive, hypnotic and lush textures. The material is harmonically aiming to reflect the feeling of delirious bliss, and song structures are adventurous and meandering, but still indulge in a hook-y refrain or slow grooving beats here and there.

The lyrical content reflects insecurity - whether it is artistic, professional, environmental or social. Some songs, like "One Shore" and "Checkerboard Sonata" evolve into anthems lamenting the apathy of the current nuance-lacking and self-absorbed digital culture. Other songs like "Just Above" and "New Green" were written as reminders of comfort that exist through personal relationships and non-transactional connections.
